2016 Miami Dolphins Football Predictions

2015 was an interesting year for the Miami Dolphins. The team came into the season with high hopes. They had finished the previous season at 8-8 and the playoffs were not far out of reach.

However a dismal 1-3 star in 2016 forced the Dolphins to fire head coach Joe Philbin. Miami finished the season at 6-10, last place in the AFC East. Questions now have risen as to can the Dolphins get it done in 2016 with the team they have. They will have a new look but will it result in a better record?

BoydsBets.com has posted this year’s win totals and Miami is at 7.  That’s the fewest in the AFC East, so Vegas does not like this team to make the playoffs.  Let’s check the schedule and see our game-by-game predictions for 2016:

Week 1: Sunday, Sept. 11 at Seattle Seahawks
This is not the best way to open your season. Miami will be on the road in a hostile environment against a team that will be hungry to get back to the playoffs. Don’t think new coach Adam Gase gets this one. Record: 0-1

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 18 at New England Patriots
From bad to worse. This game is not much easier than week one. If Tom Brady’s suspension holds up, Miami might have a chance. Otherwise it’s another loss on the road to start the season. Record- 0-2

Week 3 Week 3: Sunday, Sept. 25 vs. Cleveland Browns
The Browns will be better under new head coach Hue Jackson, but they still have a long way to go. They should recover in their home opener and get a win. Record 1-2

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 29 at Cincinnati Bengals
A Thursday night game on the road in just a few days will be a challenge. The Bengals are an elite team now and should win this one easily. Record 1-3

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 9 vs. Tennessee Titans
Last year the Dolphins crushed the Titans in Dan Campbell’s debut. The Titans should be much improved this year and could steal this game. Dolphins win in a close one most likely. Record 2-3

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers,
The Steelers made a deep playoff run last year despite a number of injuries to key players. Big Ben is too much for the Dolphin secondary in this on. Record 2-4

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 23 vs. Buffalo Bills
This is another game that could go either way. Mario Williams leads the Dolphins to a win against his former team. Record 3-4

Week 9: Sunday, Oct. 30 vs. New York Jets
The Jets nearly made the playoffs last year. Coming off a bye, the Dolphins should be fresh and ready to play whoever the Jets have a quarteback. Record 4-4

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 13 at San Diego Chargers
The Chargers took it to the fins last year winning 30-14. The result should be similar in San Diego this time. Record 4-5

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 20 at Los Angeles Rams
Rams have a good defense and they can run the football. If there new quarterback gives them anything they should be competitive this year. Record 4-6

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 27 vs. San Francisco 49ers
49ers are clearly in rebuild mode. Dolphins get a win at home. Record 5-6

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 4 at Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens seem to have Miami’s number in recent years. Ravens win easily. Record 5-7

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 11 vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are a legit Super Bowl contender. They will probably still have a lot to play for at this point in the season. Record 5-8

Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 18, at New York Jets
The Dolphins sweep the Jets who will struggle without a decent option at quarterback.  Record 5-9

Week 16: Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 24 at Buffalo Bills
The Bill will probably have a little more to play for at this point in the season than the Dolphins. Record 5-10

Week 17: Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 1 vs. New England Patriots
The Patriots will most likely be resting starters for the playoffs. Dolphins will be playing for pride. Record 6-10
